On January 28, 2025, WMG at the University of Warwick hosted a launch event and workshop for the EU-funded Lasers4MaaS project, introducing the UK’s first Advanced Laser Welding Lab with Dynamic Beam Shaping (DBL). The event gathered researchers and industry experts to discuss cutting-edge laser welding innovations, focusing on:

• Dynamic Beam Shaping for precision and adaptability in welding.
• AI and machine learning for perfect welds using multiphysical models.
• Single-pass welding of thick materials (useful for marine applications).
• The importance of servitisation (offering laser tech as a service).
